Wilhelm Sasnel

Beautiful paintings.

Alexander Farto

Amazing large scale street art from the Portuguese artist living in London.

Michelle Vandermeer's mini majellen

Diane Victor

Has produced these lovely fragile images by catching smoke from a candle on paper. Works incredibly well in conveying the ephemeral ad delicate lives of the HIV positive community members.

"Pointless Nostalgic"

Some of my photographs I though I'd upload.

"I said I'd never leave your side, but I'm exhausted."

So I've completed my first project. Very fun brief, which allowed a lot of scope for ideas and outcomes, entitled "NEW ZOO" the criteria was to promote ZSL London Zoo dispelling the image of sad animals trapped in cages. I decided to create an animation for a digital escalator panel in tube stations around London, here it is:

Alan Baker

The work of Alan Baker amazes me. The balance of mediums is
perfect every time, setting one another off to excite and surprise
the audience at every inch of the page.
Beautifully executed illustrations.

Book Fair

I recently saw the London Art Book Fair at the Whitechapel Gallery in London and found the most fantastic hand made book comprised of a black and white photograph on the right hand page of the spread and a beautifully delicate water colour of women's underwear on the right page. Unfortunately the gallery got a little busy and i was unable to get the price or even the artist's name, something i largely regret. The day was not at all lost though because there was enough inspiration crammed into that relatively small space to keep my brain ticking over with ideas for the next year. There was also the recent exhibition at the V&A museum, which i believe to still be there, showing the work of illustrator of the year and also student illustrator of the year, whose work i actually enjoyed best of all. To know that its a possibility to have my work exhibited whilst still being a student is an element of hope i will hold on to for quite some time.

... Oh and on a side note, I got my nose pierced.

"Ways of Seeing"

I've been reading the book Ways of Seeing by John Berger, and it has changed my whole perception of not only the art world but ... well i guess everything. It's a must read for anyone interested in art, mass media or just the notion of culture. It changes the way we look at not only high art but of the middlebrow and low culture, questioning if an image can really be accessible to all cultures, and if it can what does this mean for the more traditional forms of oil paintings, and galleries for that matter. Has originality and uniqueness been destroyed? Ok well i could go on for a while here, but it is truly a magnificent book and worth a mention on here.

Petros Varnava

Now I'm not usually a lover of type, but in a sense this isnt type, it's busting to be an image
and works so very well. Reminds me of the work of Oded Ezer:

Michael Tseng

I have a very big obsession with NASA, I love NASA and so these soft little graphical
beauties by Michael Tseng have instantly become a favourite of mine.

"Lets leave our voices in the houses"

Wednesday night's Ugly Betty! How Amazing was the opening? Total Lion King, really made me wanna go watch it, had the whole Simba screaming, Mufasa falling into the stampede image playing in m head, so tragic... Anyway, please turn your attention to an awesome new site that i have found 'Pinterest'. Its like a hub for design, where members re-pin images they've found on the web to their own pin-boards which others can see. Whether its beautifully executed maps, crush worthy camera gear or cooking utensils worth salivating over, Pinterest moves away from the high school tumblr users and attracts the more mature young professionals. Overall its a great site. I have named my pin-board 'Crush Worthy'. Just a short update for now, I'm working on something rather special at the moment and will upload / explain when i've finished. Promise.

"I thank you for what you've done to my life"

So I woke up the best way possible this morning, to a coffee filled starbucks mug, an almond croissant, the return of my Nikon DSLR, and my brand new macbook and ipod touch. Pure euphoria. To top the day off, went out to buy myself a new pair of brown sport heeled boots. Awesome. I am definitely all set for the season ahead. Theres just one thing thats bothering me though, and that thing is the black and white painting that i was commissioned to do, it is one of the most trying pieces i have ever had to do. Its just not fun for me anymore. which affirms my choice of going into illustration rather than painting. Hey, look at that, there's the silver lining in that... well, that and the money that im getting paid to do it. anyway, im currently finishing off a piece im writing for the ELLE magazine competition. You know my whole profound and ardent love affair with ELLE already, so probably guess what kind of victory dance i'd do if i became a finalist. E P I C. eugh its raining and i need to go running with my dog, wahhhhh i don't wanna. sorry stuff is just flying out of my head left right and centre at the moment, i have like so many ideas for stuff to do when i start my course, im going to actually explode, i want to start! um im gonna go write a load of ideas, finish my article and runnnnn. Bye.

"Under the milky way"

I have THE biggest ulcer in the world. It's huge and has been residing on the inside of my mouth for over a week. The pain is actually unbearable, like i go dizzy when putting gel on it. EUGH. Annnyyywayyy, I've been doing a lot of like fashion illustrations using watercolours, soo may take a few photos to upload later on. I always get frustrated with watercolour so its quite nice that recently ive had the patience to sit and take time over them. Im still working on two commissioned pieces, one is A1 and the other A2, both acrylic on canvas. The A2 is completely black and white and ive been close to putting my foot through it multiple times. Seems all my patience for that has gone into the watercolours.
MAN.

"Just a boy in a story, Just a hallucinatory"

I have the biggest girl crush EVER! on Emily Blunt. She is awesome. Loved her from the very first time i saw her in Sunshine Cleaning and even more so in The Devil Wears Prada, and now her feature in ELLE. Although quite concerned that the photos of her don't actually look like her. I mean you can tell its her, but i dunno, if you were familiar with Emily before reading ELLE then you'll know what I'm talking about... hopefully.
So I was in London today, I went into Whistles, I fell in love. Like capital L love, no lets go out on a limb and say block capital, bold typeface, underlined love. And you are already aware of my current funds, or lack of, and so i left without the perfect perfect dress, that yes i stupidly tried on and become even more besotted with. sigh. I did however snag a cheaper dress and tshirt, that my mother dearest bought me, so not all was lost.
This will be a short post though, just a little update here, because I'm rather tired and need to walk my dog sooo .... so long, farewell.

"Amazing still it seems I'll be 23"

More of my Art foundation work, some animations I made over the year for various projects.

The very first animation of the decaying book was actually the first animation i've ever made, and truely changed my view about animations as a media. Not that i didnt respect the media or process, i just didnt think it was for me, but the course opened my eyes up to being very diverse and see a lot of mediums in a new light.

"You got a friend in me"

My puppy Bear (well i say puppy, he's almost three).
He's a staffordshire terrier with a hint of Boxer and awesome. We got him from Battersea Rescue home a little over a year ago, and even though i fear my blog is just becoming a mouthpiece for me to tell everyone what to do, I'm going to advise you anyway to, if ever considering getting a pet, go to a rescue home. ANNNDDDD don't be predujicial towards staffs, yes there are some violent and unfriendly out there, but that is the case with every dog if trainned or encouraged to be that way.
